IPL or intense pulsed light therapy is an in-office treatment that uses light to treat a variety of skin conditions.
The method of IPL we use, called Lumenis, is specially designed to treat dry eye disease by reducing inflammation caused by conditions like ocular rosacea and
telangiectasia (also known as spider veins).
How Does IPL Therapy Work?
We perform IPL by applying a specific wavelength of light to your eyelids, which is then absorbed by certain blood vessels. The light seals these blood vessels, which reduces inflammation.
The light energy may also improve your tear film by warming up the meibomian glands, which helps your eyes produce a healthier tear film.
